Butt-Head from "Beavis and Butt-head" show

Butt-Head is a fictional character from the MTV animated series Beavis and Butt-Head. He was voiced by the show's creator, Mike Judge.

Mike Judge got the name Butt-Head from his university days, when he knew a couple of kids who had the nicknames 'Iron Butt' and 'Butt-Head'.^[2] Some of the mispronunciations of Butt-Head's name by adults include Buffcoat, Headbutt, Butthole, Butter-head, Buttbrain, Tangpode, Nuthead and Bob-head. Senator Ernest Hollings actually first used the name 'Buffcoat' on the floor of the U.S. Senate — an incident believed to have inspired incidents of mispronunciation of the title characters' names.

Of the title characters, Butt-Head appears to be the leader of the two. He is calmer, cockier, and marginally more "intelligent" than Beavis, but is oblivious to subtleties and still significantly less intelligent than the other characters in the show. Regardless, as the 'leader', he is usually 100% confident in everything he says and does — no matter how ridiculous or frivolous it is. Dan Tobin of The Boston Phoenix described Butt-Head as "ringleader, the devious visionary."Butt-Head seems to be the lazier of the two. He never seems react to things unless they catch his attention, in which case he describes them as 'cool'. Beavis, on the other hand, always has some kind of reaction, although his actions predictably end with bad results.

Butt-Head wears dental braces and has squinted eyes. His top gums are often exposed and he speaks nasally with a deep voice and a slight lisp, repeatedly punctuating his speech with his trademark laugh (Uh huh huh huh). He is usually shown wearing an AC/DC t-shirt. However, he is seen wearing a Metallica shirt for a few seconds in Crisis Line. In merchandising appearances, his shirt displays the word 'Skull', to avoid licensing issues. He is also known to fashion his hair with his own phlegm as if it were hair gel as seen in rare footage during the music video segments.

Though Butt-Head is physically weak to the point of being unable to lift a bar without weights (Buff n' Stuff), he is still somewhat stronger than Beavis. He dominates the majority of fights they are involved in. In some episodes such as TV Violence and Special Delivery Beavis does fight back against him.

Relationship with Beavis

The series appears to show both title characters living in the same house. It is uncertain whether Beavis and Butt-head are related. The movie Beavis and Butt-head Do America gives a quick glimpse of their fathers telling the boys how their mothers got pregnant (however, both groups failed to make the connection of their kinship). Judge calls the two men 'their dads' on the DVD commentary. The one who looks like an older obese Butt-Head claims that he is the only one who 'scored'. If it is true, it would make the duo half-brothers. This potential relationship is also hinted at in Scientific Stuff when Daria asks if the two share the same father, and they reply that it is possible.

On many occasions, Butt-head is depicted as being abusive towards Beavis, usually slapping or insulting him. Most of the time, he receives no retaliation, with some exceptions (Murder Site, Nose Bleed, Prank Call, and some music videos when Beavis kicks him in the testicles). In several episodes Butt-Head shows no concern for Beavis, whether Beavis is being severely beaten (Teen Talk, Tired and Do America), abandoned (B&B vs The Vending Machine) or deported to Mexico (Vaya Con Cornholio). The feeling appears to be mutual, as seen in Water Safety when Butt-head nearly drowns in a pool and Beavis remains indifferent to Butt-Head's near-death experience, and in Choke when Butt-head chokes on a chicken nugget and Beavis takes his time attempting to help him as if it were nothing serious. Beavis tells the 9-1-1 operator "He's not really my friend".

Butt-head’s parents…

Butt-Head's parents are not seen, except for in Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. His dad is shown as a former Mötley Crüe roadie voiced by David Letterman. The two part company before they make the rather obvious connection. It is implied that Butt-Head's parents are divorced (or perhaps never married); in True Crime the two were watching the music video for Grace Jones's "Demolition Man". Beavis claimed the video was scary and asked Butt-Head if he could spend the night at his house, to which he answered "I'll ask my mom's boyfriend when he gets home." However, because the two have already practically lived together for the entirety of the show without any parents being seen, how seriously this should be taken is debatable.

Beavis as you may already know is a character on the MTV series Beavis and Butt-Head.
He was voiced by the show’s creator, Mike Judge.

Beavis has an underbite and a fixated stare on his face which rarely looks straight at the television viewer, but rather to the side. He is usually seen wearing a Metallica t-shirt, though in merchandising appearances, his shirt displays the slogan “Death Rock,” to avoid licensing issues. In Blood Drive he wears a Slayer shirt rather than his normal Metallica one.

He is slightly shorter than Butt-head, although he appears to be the same height when viewed at a distance due to his oversize pompadour-like hairstyle.

Beavis works as a fry cook at Burger World and once defiantly revealed that he’s a fan of Bon Jovi to Butt-head, who dislikes the band and its leader Jon Bon Jovi.

Mike Judge once said in an interview that Beavis "is a zero" when it comes to intelligence indeed, Beavis is often oblivious to what should be obvious. ^[2] Generally submissive to Butt-head and willing to tolerate a large amount of physical and verbal abuse, Beavis nonetheless has limits. In Murder Site, Beavis was driven to attack and nearly kill Butt-Head, who wouldn’t cease calling him “butt-knocker", a term which Beavis inexplicably resents. Beavis also stood up to Butt-head while they were watching a Rancid video: Butt-Head kept talking about it derisively, prompting Beavis to tell Butt-Head to shut up. When Butt-Head reacts with fury, ordering Beavis never again to tell him to shut up and threatening to kick his ass, Beavis preemptively kicks Butt-Head in the testicles, told him to shut up again, and walks out of the room to get something to eat. In another episode, while the duo were watching a Bon Jovi video, Beavis claims to like one part of the song that is cool, causing Butthead to slap him. After being struck a few times, Beavis kicks Butt-Head in the groin and proclaims "Bon Jovi rules!"

After consuming large amounts of sugar or caffeine, Beavis sometimes undergoes a radical personality change. He will raise his forearms in a 90-degree angle next to his chest, and then begins to yell or scream erratically, producing a stream of gibberish and strange noises. His eyes grow wide. He becomes an alter-ego named ‘Cornholio,’ a normally dormant persona. Beavis pulls his shirt over his head and wanders aimlessly, reciting “I am the Great Cornholio, I need TP for my bunghole” in an odd, faux-Spanish accent. Sometimes Beavis will momentarily talk normally before resuming the persona of Cornholio. Once his Cornholio episode is over, Beavis usually has no memory of what happened. In the guise of Cornholio, Beavis becomes a successful beat poet (Buttniks), and in Vaya Con Cornholio he is deported to Mexico after being picked up at Burger World by an INS agent. The agent and his superior attempt to make sense of the gibberish that is Cornholio, going so far as to look up the definition of bunghole.

Relationship with Butt-Head

Though the closest of confidants, Beavis’ relationship with Butt-Head is jaded, violent, and at times borders on sadistic. Butt-head often insults and physically abuses Beavis (usually slapping him.) On occasion, Beavis will fight back or stand up for himself (Madame Blavatsky, They're Coming To Take Me Away, Huh Huh). His favorite means of retribution is kicking Butthead in the "nads". On at least one occasion Beavis throws the first punch. In Canoe he initiates a fight by smacking Butt-Head across the head with a paddle (although Butt-Head goaded him into doing it). Butt-Head usually knows when Beavis is approaching his breaking point and will back off (as seen when he calls Beavis "buttknocker" or insults Metallica one too many times).
Beavis is usually a follower, willingly following most of Butt-head's instructions and cooperating in almost all of his endeavors. This appears to be a byproduct of Beavis’ own general witlessness rather than any fear of Butt-head’s abuse — as demonstrated in the alternate future of It’s a Miserable Life, in which Butt-Head had never been born and Beavis was instead the friend of Stewart Stevenson.

Beavis’ family is occasionally referred to but never seen. According to some music video segments it is said that his mother shares Beavis’ peculiar hairstyle, that she is somewhat plus-sized, and (most significantly) is regarded as a slut. While Beavis is conscious of this, it doesn’t seem to bother him much, as he often laughs along in agreement whenever Butt-head brings it up.

In Beavis and Butt-Head Do America Beavis is reunited with his biological father, who seems to exhibit the same pyromania obsession. He also shares an overt physical likeness. He is said to be a drifter and a one-time roadie for rock band Mötley Crüe. However, they remain oblivious to their father-son relationship and they part ways before they make the connection.

Beavis and Butt-head is an American animated television series created by Mike Judge. After the success of Judge's short film entitled Frog Baseball, which starred the characters Beavis and Butt-head and was featured in an episode of Liquid Television, the cable television channel MTV signed Judge to create a series with the same characters. The series aired from March 8, 1993 to November 28, 1997. It is rated TV-14 in the United States. Reruns of the series are currently airing on MTV2, and occasionally on Comedy Central.

In 1996, the series was spun off into an animated feature film, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.

The show centers on a pair of teenagers, Beavis and Butt-head, who live in the fictional town of Highland, Texas. They while away their time in sarcastic conversation, fantasizing about sex and masculinity, although they have no real-world experience with either thing. They attend Highland High (based on a real high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Judge grew up) and occasionally work at part-time jobs, putting as little effort as possible into everything they do. They survive their misadventures without serious consequences, and with a generally contented, though critical (not apathetic) worldview. During each episode, Beavis and Butt-head watch and make fun of two or three music videos.
